Samantha and Mitch returned from their work and travels abroad and we all met up in Nashville - our favorite of cities - for a few days of fun.
Grant got a couple hours behind the wheel, driving from home to the Virginia border to work on his sixty hours. He opted not to drive I-40 through the mountains. TJ finished up work for the summer at Camp Sea Gull and he and Lisa flew out the next day.
Friday night, Sam arranged for an Escape Room - The Expedition of the Yeti - and invited Grant and I along for the adventure. It turns out that given a timeline, escape rooms are chaos. Fun, but chaos. Aside from three poor souls who got lumped in with us, the whole evening focused on Samantha and Grant. The two of them laser focused on the problems, literally solving most of the puzzles while Caroline, Mitch, and I barely helped, or simply stood out of the way. It is fun watching Grant hold his own among smart grown-ups.
Saturday we went to a game bar - foosball, corn hole, pinball, bowling to meet up with Sam, Mitch and their friends before heading to a bougie restaurant for drinks and hors devours.
Afterwards, Lisa and I paired off to Broadway, while the kids went to another Escape Room adventure. It was important to give Sam, Mitch, TJ, and Grant time together without parents around. Sam like to spoil her brothers and she deserves that right. She is proud of them and they look up to her.
yet, it never seems to be enough time. There are so many people and demands on one another's time. This is what family is like with adult children who are hardcore adulting looks like. It isn't easy.
